Fire Point
Fire Point is the lowest temperature at which the heat from the combustion of the burning vapour is capable of producing sufficient vapour to enable combustion to continue (idependent of the ignition source).
Keywords: Fire point, lowest temp, sufficient vapour, sustain combustion
Keywords: Fire point, lowest temp, sufficient vapour, sustain combustion
Flash Point
Flash Point is the lowest temperature at which there is sufficient vapourisation of the substance to produce a vapour, which will flash momentarily when a naked flame is applied. Another way of interpreting the flash point, is the temperature of the liquid fuel needed to cause igntion with a heat source; corresponds to the lower flammable limit of the evaporating vapour. One point to note is that this temperature will be affected by atmospheric pressure and in some fine situations, coniditions might exist in which the pressure is under one atmosphere; this will result in a reduction in flash point temperature.
Key Words: flash point, lowest temp, liquid fuel, sufficient flammable vapour, naked flame, ignites.
